Agent wallet

An agent wallet is an approved signer that can trade on your Hyperliquid account but cannot withdraw funds.

In short

An agent (sometimes called an API wallet) is an address you authorise to submit trading actions for your account. Its scope is enforced by the protocol: it can place, modify and cancel orders, but cannot withdraw, transfer or change account ownership, and you can revoke it at any time.

Why the scope matters

Automation normally requires either custody or a credential whose limits depend on configuration. An agent approval turns that trust question into a protocol-enforced scope question.

Revocation is unilateral: it is signed from your wallet and does not require the operator's cooperation or availability.

Questions

Frequently asked

Can an agent withdraw?

No. Withdrawals and transfers remain exclusively signable by your own wallet.

Is the agent the same as the builder-fee approval?

No. They are separate approvals with unrelated scopes.
